Impact of a leadership training system for nurses

Abstract

Introduction: Introduction: Leadership in Nursing is a priority topic for important international organizations. After the diagnosis carried out in the Nursing Department of the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial General Hospital in Sancti Spíritus, a training system for administrative decision-makers was proposed that contributes to the formation of the essential leadership in the development of their skills.
Objective: To evaluate the impact of the implementation of a leadership training system for nurses.
Methods: A pre-experimental study was carried out from January to December 2023, the population consisted of 56 nurses in management positions at the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial General Hospital of Sancti Spíritus, the intentional non-probabilistic sample of 15 nurses. The variable was measured: level of leadership training in Nursing as an element of change in decision-making for the formation of transformational leadership.
Results: The results show favorable changes in the level of leadership training in nursing. Nurses in general had a positive and significant change, if we take into account that four (26.66%) rose by more than two values, seven (46.66%) rose by two values, and four by one value (26.66%), evidence that is reflected in the data obtained in the evaluation of the dependent variable.
Conclusions: The implementation of the system showed the changes that occurred in the population when comparing the initial and final state with respect to the appropriation of knowledge and skills, as well as the value of the affective for the formation of leadership in Nursing.
