Characterization of women included in the biosocial risk pregestogram in a Health Area
Abstract
Introduction: The promotion and development of reproductive health is one of the most important pillars for the prevention of disease and death during the reproductive process.
Objective: Characterize the women included in the biosocial risk pregestogram.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was carried out in the Basic Work Group No. 1 of the Ramón López Peña Polyclinic, Santiago de Cuba municipality, in the period from January to December 2022. The study population consisted of the 70 women who met the selection criteria. Variables such as: age, education, marital status, nutritional status, unfavorable obstetric history, short interpregnancy period and social risk factors were used. The data obtained were summarized in statistical tables and the percentage was used as a summary measure.
Results: The group of women under 20 years of age predominated with (62.8%), the intergenic period of less than two years (42.8%), low maternal weight (40%) and having had a previous cesarean section (34.3%). Low socioeconomic level, overcrowding and being single were the most frequent social risk factors with (60 %), (55.7%) and (54.3%) respectively.
Conclusions: The women included in the biosocial risk pregestogram were mostly adolescents, single, underweight, and had a previous cesarean section with a short intergenic period. Low socioeconomic level was the most frequent social factor.
