Abstract

Introduction: In the world, a significant number of COVID-19 patients with neurological manifestations have been reported, including Cuba and Sancti Spíritus as examples of this situation in its clinical spectrum.
Objective:
to analyze the behavior of clinical and neurological manifestations in patients with COVID-19 admitted to the Camilo Cienfuegos Provincial General Hospital of Sancti Spíritus.
Methods:
A prospective, observational study was carried out at the institution. The population under study consisted of 480 patients and the intentional non-probabilistic sample was made up of 164 patients with COVID-19 who had neurological manifestations during the study period and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The variables used were: age, sex, occupation, associated comorbidities, clinical form of the disease, immunization, symptoms and signs of the disease, complications and status at discharge.
Results:

The moderate clinical evolutionary form predominated with 70.7%, headache (71.3%) and vertigo (70.3%) were the most frequent neurological symptoms, the most frequent complications were stroke (6.7%), 95.1% were immunized and of them 65.2% with the Abdala vaccine, 59.8% of the patients were discharged alive.
Conclusions: the largest number of patients were men, workers between 40 and 59 years of age, hypertensive, with headache and vertigo as the most frequent neurological symptoms, few cases with complications, the majority were immunized and survived without sequelae.
